Mercury Nashville“Part Western Swing sprinkled with bits of classic pop, hazy Hawaiian moments and child-like fun, all coming to a nostalgic and melancholy end” — that’s how Kacey Musgraves describes her new holiday album, A Very Kacey Christmas, that’s set to come out right before Halloween.

For her first yuletide set, the Grammy winner wrote four originals:  “Christmas Makes Me Cry,” “Present Without a Bow,” and “Ribbons and Bows,” as well as “A Willie Nice Christmas,” where she’s joined by both Nelson and his fabled guitar Trigger.

Even on the eight Christmas classics she covers, Kacey went out of her way to make them her own.

“It would have been easy to simply copy old versions of these songs that have been around forever, but it was very important for us to build arrangements that are totally new and very me,” she says.

You can hear a sneak peek of the album in a new video posted on Kacey’s socials.
