Authorities say a person killed in an incident south of Wamego late Wednesday afternoon had jumped from a vehicle, according to WIBW in Topeka.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said it happened around 5 p.m. on K-99, just south of K-18. A trooper at the scene said a woman who was a passenger in a southbound vehicle jumped from the car, and was hit by another vehicle going the same direction.

The woman died from the resulting injuries. KHP said neither driver was hurt.

The names of those involved have not yet been released.

A stretch of K-99 between K-18 and I-70 was closed while authorities investigated and reopened just after 6:30 p.m.
