ABC/Fred LeeIt looks like Chris Stapleton may need to clear a spot for yet another honor. If you’re keeping count, the artist behind Traveller already has CMA Awards for Album, New Artist and Male Vocalist of the Year– plus he recently added Grammys for Best Country Album and Best Country Solo Performance to his collection.
Now, he’s up for the inaugural American Music Prize for Best Debut Album. The winner, chosen from a dozen contenders, will get $25,000. Judging by the fact that Chris is the only artist on the list associated with Music City and the award will be handed out next Wednesday in Nashville, it appears the odds may be in his favor. The AMP was established by Scott B. Murphy, who started a similar program in Australia in 2005.
Right now, Chris is also enjoying his very first top 15 country hit as an artist with “Nobody to Blame.”
