A chemical reaction in a laundry basket early Thursday morning caused a small fire at AMC Manhattan 13 theatre.
The basket was in a hallway outside the kitchen when items in it spontaneously combusted around 1:00 a.m. Thursday.
Staff placed the fiery items in a sink to extinguish the flames, and no fire extinguishers were used.
According to a Kansas Department of Agriculture food establishment inspection report, the kitchen filled with smoke but no other areas were affected.
AMC representatives were unavailable for comment about the incident.
