City officials said Monday that while Hayes Drive will remain closed to vehicles for 3 to 4 weeks, a temporary pedestrian walkway through the area is now open.
The walkway is on Hayes Drive north of Levee Drive to help people get through the zone during construction.
Drivers can use the detour on Tuttle Creek Boulevard (US-24), Casement Road and McCall Road. People driving in the area can expect extra traffic and some delays.
