John Ford will be the Republican candidate for the Riley County Commission District 1 seat, according to unofficial final primary election results in Riley County.
As of Tuesday evening, Ford received 721 votes in the county Commission District 1 race while his fellow Republican opponent, Gary Bennington, received 521 votes with all 20 precincts reporting. Ford told The Mercury during a phone interview that he was not really surprised by the election results.
“Property taxes are the main issue facing Riley County right now,” Ford said. “As I knock on doors, when I’m having conversation with people is the main issue.”
