Columbia Nashville/Dack JanielsThere’s new music on the way from Chase Rice, and judging from recent teases, his new single is likely called “Whisper.” For the past week, the co-writer of Florida Georgia Line’s smash “Cruise” has been Instagramming a series of photos with the caption, “Friday 2/5 #Shhh #Whisper #NewMusic.” Subsequent ads in country music trade publications hinted, “Hear what can start with a WHISPER.”

Chase also found out Monday he’s up for his very first Academy of Country Music award.

“There are a lot of great things happening for us right now, and I can’t wait to party in Las Vegas,” he said. “I’m excited about our nomination for New Male Vocalist of the Year and even more excited about sharing new music with my fans later this week.”

Chase will compete against Brett Eldredge, Chris Janson, Thomas Rhett and Chris Stapleton for the honor.

Look for the lead single from Chase’s sophomore album on Friday. His 2014 debut, Ignite the Night, landed two singles in the top five: “Ready Set Roll” and “Gonna Wanna Tonight.”
