The Riley County Police Department (RCPD) announced Wednesday that Assistant Director Kurt Moldrup will retire effective January 1st 2025 after thirty-nine years of dedicated service.

Moldrup began his tenure with RCPD in March 1985. Throughout his career, AD Moldrup has been recognized with numerous accolades, including a Director’s Commendation, the Little Apple Optimist Club Award, nominations for Officer and Supervisor of the Year, and a Life Saving Award.

AD Moldrup’s leadership has been pivotal for RCPD, guiding the department through significant milestones such as the implementation of succession planning, the adoption of evidence-based policing policies, and navigating numerous critical incidents.

AD Moldrup is deeply embedded in the Manhattan and Riley County communities, with involvement in K-State, Fort Riley, and numerous non-profit and faith-based organizations. He and his wife Sue have eleven children, who have supported his commitment to service.

RCPD has tentatively scheduled Assistant Director Moldrup’s retirement reception for December 27, 2024.
