Man identified in apparent suicide Saturday

Riley County emergency personnel responded to the 500 block of McDowell Creek Road in Manhattan on Saturday at approximately 11:10 p.m. for a report of a suicide. Accident on Hunters Island

Riley County emergency crews were called to the 1800 block of Kientz Drive Tuesday afternoon (approximately 2:15 p.m.) for a single vehicle accident. Two water rescues in Pottawatomie County

The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office received two reports of individuals needing assistance on the Kansas River near the St.George Boat Ramp Saturday. Smith fails to appear in court

Over the weekend, a 62-year-old Manhattan man was arrested for failure to appear in court earlier this month. In December, Richard Smith was arrested after shooting and killing 21-year-old Tyler Nelson. However, the incident fell within the Kansas self-defense law and Smith was arrested for being a convicted felon with a firearm and drug possession.
