An out of control prescribed burn saw fire crews from Randolph, Riley County, and Leonardville responding to the area of Barton Road on Wednesday. Via Christi Hospital has named a new leader. According to a press release from the hospital, experienced administrative leader in Catholic healthcare, Bob Copple will become senior administrator for the Manhattan hospital. Copple has held the position of president and chief executive officer of CHI’s Memorial Community Hospital & Health System in Blair, Nebraska since 2013.

Emergency crews in Riley County are currently investigating a suspicious package found at a UPS building on 1133 Hayes Drive. Crews were dispatched just after 1:30 Tuesday afternoon, after a bottle containing a suspicious liquid, was found in a package mailed from Nigeria.
