A 26-year-old Manhattan man faces several charges including rape following an arrest Saturday afternoon. Sangla Maurice Stevens was taken into custody shortly before two p.m. on charges of rape, aggravated battery, criminal threat, domestic battery, criminal restraint, and probation violation. Northbound/southbound K-177 at Scenic Overlook/Tutsbury Road in Riley County was closed at 5 p.m. Friday due to a bike/vehicle crash. A Manhattan man faces a rape charge following his arrest earlier this week. The rain is likely welcome after a grass fire Thursday evening caused quite a bit of damage in the 11 hundred block of Anderson Avenue. Riley County Fire Chief Pat Collins tells KMAN the fire started when the hose on a pump quit while Brad White was conducting a planned burn at about 6 p.m.

Wamego’s USD 320 Superintendent Denise O’Dea has resigned her position–and will be taking over as Superintendent of Washington County Schools’ USD 108. Day’s resignation is effective June 30th.
