Courtesy Dick Clark ProductionsAt the Billboard Music Awards Sunday night in Las Vegas, Florida Georgia Line won the award for Top Country Song for “H.O.L.Y.” and also performed with John Legend.  Performing with artists outside their genre is nothing new for FGL — they’ve collaborated with Nelly, The Chainsmokers and The Backstreet Boys too. And, it seems, more collabos are coming.

Backstage,  FGL’s Brian Kelley told ABC Radio why their music seems to work with many different genres.

“Our influences are kinda all over, they always have been,” he explained. “We try to keep an open mind and work hard and always expand our knowledge of music, and what’s current, and what feels good and what sounds right.  We got a couple more collaborations coming, can’t really talk about ’em, but we’re gonna keep droppin’ ’em on the world!”

His partner Tyler Hubbard, meanwhile, talked about how meaningful it is that they won an award for “H.O.L.Y.”

“It’s really special.  That’s been a special song ever since the first time we heard it,” he told ABC Radio. “So to be able to celebrate that tonight at the Billboards and to be able to perform it with John was a really special night for B.K. and I both, and something we’re gonna take home and never forget.”

Florida Georgia Line will perform on ABC this Friday as part of Good Morning America’s summer concert series, and they’re bringing their pal and tourmate Nelly along for the fun.
