Brandy Clark’s 2015 is shaping up to be a very big year. She’s up for two Grammy Awards — New Artist of the Year and Country Album of the Year for 12 Stories — at next month’s ceremony. Brandy is also introducing her music to fans with an opening slot on Alan Jackson‘s 25th Anniversary tour, which launched this past weekend. Brandy has always looked up to Alan for his honest songwriting and commitment to keeping country music’s rich history alive.
Brandy tells ABC News Radio, “I was definitely a huge fan of his growing up. Just loved his songwriting and his singing. He always stayed deeply rooted in traditional country. That’s a lot of my influence.”
Alan first introduced himself to Brandy at the ASCAP Songwriter Awards last fall in Nashville, and they spent some quality time with one another last weekend while playing their first two shows together.
Says Brandy, “After the first show, he invited myself and Jon Pardi, who’s the other opener, up on his bus for a drink. Just so nice and wanted to make us feel great about being out there with him. He’s a class act.”
Look for Brandy at the Grammy Awards airing Sunday, February 8 on CBS.
