A head-on collision shut down parts of Kimball Avenue in Manhattan and injured at least two people Monday afternoon at approximately 1:30 p.m.

A west-bound van and an east-bound passenger collided just east of the intersection of Kimball and Denison. The wreck rested in the west-bound lane of Kimball.

One person was helicoptered from the scene via Life Star, while another person left in an ambulance.

Traffic was diverted at the intersection of Manhattan and Kimball, and the intersection of Denison and Kimball.

At the time of this report, emergency crews are advising commuters to avoid the area.
