ABC/Image Group LABrett Eldredge may’ve played his final date on the Suits & Boots Tour with Thomas Rhett last Friday night in Chicago, but earlier this week, he assumed an entirely different persona to perform his top-secret final show of the year. Tuesday night, Brett took over Skull’s Rainbow Room in Nashville’s Printer’s Alley for his second annual Salute to Sinatra.
“I love big band music,” he reveals. “I grew up singing [Frank] Sinatra and stuff like that. Last year I did a speakeasy kind of an event, very small list… And it was last minute and we brought a big band down in the basement of a secret venue. And we had 80 people down there and made it very intimate, and I sang songs that I just love, like Sinatra and Ray Charles and all this stuff.”
The “Drunk on Your Love” hitmaker believes the opportunity to veer from the norm is one of the things that keeps him going creatively.
“You gotta make sure you have fun, you know and do something a little different every once in a while to change it up,” he says. “And that’s kinda my thing to end the year, to kinda just say, I just want to sing these songs, not because I’m trying to be this artist. It’s just that I love these songs and it gets me excited and John Esposito, the head of my label, he loves Sinatra, and we both share that love. So we go out there and do that– every year now, we’re gonna do it.”
Brett says he hopes to keep growing the event and eventually make it a fundraiser for charity.
