ABC/Eric McCandlessCam is the latest country star to serve as a mentor and performer on American Idol. It’s something she’s looking forward to doing.

“There’s so many amazingly gifted kids that I think whoever wins this is just gonna do really well,” the “Diane” singer told Billboard ahead of Sunday night’s ACM Awards.

In addition to serving as a mentor, Cam will perform with contestants Effie Passero and Shannon O’Hara, both of whom she calls “extremely talented.”

In other news, Cam will release her sophomore album later this year, a project she says is “confident, real [and] my-best-work-yet.” She further explains that the upcoming release is, “the best stuff I’ve made. The growth of it’s really wonderful, and the freedom to just be able to do whatever I want to do. I feel really good about that.”

Watch Cam on American Idol tonight at 8:00 ET/7:00 CT on ABC.
