Sony Music NashvilleChase Rice kicked off his JD and Jesus Tour Thursday night in Virginia. Fresh off his gig opening for Kenny Chesney this summer, Chase expects to see a lot of new fans this time around.

He says, “This is the next step for us. I mean, a lot of people have seen our shows now.”

Though Chase is only on his second hit at country radio with “Gonna Wanna Tonight,” his fans have clearly been pressing repeat on his latest album, Ignite the Night.

“We’ve got people singing our songs like we’ve got five, six #1 songs,” Chase says. “It’s crazy, man. Our shows are crazy. The crowds are showing up, the crowds are selling out, the shows are selling out.”

As for his experience opening Kenny Chesney’s The Big Revival tour, Chase learned a lot watching his hero perform for thousands of fans every night. He also forged a friendship with the country superstar.

Says Chase, “I didn’t expect to become as good of friends as we’ve become, and he’s a great guy. I look forward to hopefully one day touring with Kenny again.”
