Chris Young had been nominated for Academy of Country Music awards four times before today, dating all the way back to 2006 when he was up for Top New Male Vocalist. This year, he doubles his count, adding four more chances to win, and this is the first time he’s ever been recognized as a producer.
I’m Comin’ Over is up for Album of the Year and its title track is in the running for Single Record of the Year as well. Since Chris co-produced both the song and the project, he could take home four trophies instead of just two.
“It’s all really surreal…” he says. “It’s my first nomination as a producer in any category and as an artist to have your name up there for album of the year and single of the year, it’s pretty dang amazing!”
Chris will find out if he wins April 3, when the awards air live from Las Vegas on CBS.
Wednesday night, Chris takes his I’m Comin’ Over tour with Cassadee Pope to Minneapolis, Minnesota. The pair’s duet, “Think of You,” is climbing the charts now.
