2022 outside agency budgets
Seven agencies presented their 2022 budgets to the city commission Tuesday.
The Manhattan Public Library budget will be about $3.29 million , about $30,000 more than in 2021.
The Social Services Advisory Board and Special Alcohol Fund Advisory Committee will allocate about $450,000 and $466,000, respectively, in contracts.
These amounts are down slightly from the previous budget.
The remaining agency budgets, which belong to the Flint Hills Area Transportation Agency, Manhattan Arts Center, Aggieville Business Association and Downtown Manhattan Incorporated, amount to about $312,000.
The Wolf House Museum, which has a budget of $5,000, was not part of the presentation.
The city commission will hold its next 2022 budget work session on July 13.

Northview comments
Several Northview residents urged the city commission Tuesday to take up past requests for the addition of a community kitchen to the recently constructed Eisenhower Recreation Center.
Some residents also expressed the need for a community center that could host educational, public health and food-based events.
According to Northview resident Susanne Glymour, data shows the neighborhood needs better access to food and other necessities.
Officials had previously considered the addition of a kitchen to the facility prior to its completion, but moved on after running into budgetary issues.
Northview resident Andrew Elliott says the requests of Northview residents were not fairly considered by the rec center project’s steering committee.
Mayor Wynn Butler says the facility was never designed to be a community center.
He adds that the additions being requested by Northview residents could be considered during future city commission discussions about CIP projects.
