The Manhattan City Commission last week approved a 2027 grant agreement with the Riley County Police Department and the Riley County Law Enforcement Agency.
The police law board previously approved the 2027 grant request at its March 16 meeting and considered the agreement May 18.
RCPD submitted an application to use the special alcohol fund (SAF) to employ a reintegration coordinator in 2027. During the 2025 RCPD budget process, city commission members of the police board recommended using SAF to fund this position in an effort to reduce the RCPD’s overall budget.
