Cops N’ Kids was held at the Manhattan Walmart on Saturday morning.

Underprivileged children from around the county were allowed to shop through the store with the help of Riley County law enforcement. Retired officer and event coordinator, Rod Cook, said that this event, which was first established 32 years ago, has grown immensely thanks to donations, allowing for them to help shop for nearly 100 children in the area.

Assistant director of the Riley County Police Department, Kurt Moldrup, said that this event is really special, not only for the children, but also for the law enforcement who are allowed to bond with these kids, creating a positive relationship throughout the morning.

Moldrup went on to discuss the eagerness of the children, some coming prepared with lists of the items they want, others unsure, picking out the things that they like as they see them.
