Riley County police are investigating a suspect who reportedly fled a traffic stop early Saturday morning and nearly struck an officer with his vehicle.

According to Monday’s police report, 23-year-old Jared Espinoza, of Kansas City, Kansas, was arrested on charges of flee or attempt to elude, aggravated assault, reckless driving, driving under the influence, interference with a law enforcement officer and driving while suspended. Police say the alleged incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. Saturday near 12th and Bluemont Ave.

Espinoza was being held Monday without bond.
