The Manhattan Fire Department was dispatched to Throckmorton Hall at Kansas State University at 5:20 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a structure fire.  Upon arrival, crews found a lab on the third floor of the building that had a small fire in it.  The fire was contained within the lab and was extinguished by fire department personnel.  Eight fire apparatus and seventeen firefighters responded with the last units clearing at around 6:41 p.m.

Throckmorton Plant Sciences Center, on Kansas State University, houses several academic departments including agronomy and plant pathology, and is the largest building on campus.  Loss is estimated at $4000 to contents and equipment with no loss to the structure. The fire cause is accidental, due to seeds catching fire inside in an oven that was conducting experiments.
