Ascension Via Christi hospital welcomed Hudson Mattis Cox as the first baby born in Manhattan in 2020 Wednesday morning.

Hudson Mattis Cox was born at 2:10 a.m. to Derek and Bethany Cox and weighed eight pounds.

Bethany says that while the due date was January 10th, they knew there was a possibility Hudson could be born around New Years Day.

Leading up to Hudson’s birth, Bethany says they began to gradually realize he could be the first baby born in Manhattan in 2020.

After Hudson was born, Ascension Via Christi gave the Cox family a gift basket containing various baby toys and supplies.

In addition to being the first baby born in Manhattan in 2020, Hudson is also Bethany and Derek’s first child.
