Broken BowAs Jason Aldean‘s eighth studio album, Rearview Town, arrives on Friday, the two-time ACM Entertainer of the Year’s country/rock sound continues to evolve, while delivering plenty of the familiar elements his fans have come to expect.

Two of those are songs written by Florida Georgia Line, and tunes crafted by his band.

“My band guys, I mean they play with me, on the road with me… onstage every night,” Jason tells ABC Radio. “And we’ve been in a band together for twenty years almost. They have a really good idea of what I like, and chord-progression-wise, how I like stuff to sound.”

“They’re not stupid,” he continues. “They get in there and start writing, sort of start really tailoring songs for me. There’s some on here, like ‘You Were Mine’ was one they wrote on this record that I thought was really cool.”

Jason’s also developed quite a partnership with FGL’s Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley. So far, they’ve co-written smashes like “Lights Come On,” “Burnin’ It Down,” and his latest top five hit, “You Make It Easy.” Tyler also had a hand in writing the track “Love Me or Don’t” on the new album.

“They just write a ton of stuff…” Jason explains, “If it’s something they want to cut, then they cut it. And if it’s not, then they have no problems pitching it around.”

“If they know I’m in the studio, Tyler will call me up and ride over to the house and we’ll drive around and listen to songs. BK, he may be down in Florida, so he’ll just email me songs. But they’re just looking for homes for their songs.”

Rearview Town is new in stores and online today. On Sunday, Jason could win ACM Entertainer for a third time.
