ABC/Image Group LA When Keith Urban first heard his latest top-15 hit, “Female,” it was simply love at first listen.

“It was just instant love,” he recalls. “It was just one of those songs that hit me. It was more than the sum of its parts, I guess, for me. The overall feeling that the song gave me was very powerful.”

For the Australian superstar, the song’s message of female empowerment really hit home.

“As a father of two girls and as a husband and as a son,” he says, “it moved me very strongly. And I felt very fortunate that I got to be the one that heard it and that we were already in the studio working on new music. So the timing was — I mean, it was really divine. I really believe that.”

“Female” is the lead single from Keith’s follow-up to RipCord, which is expected in the first few months of 2018.
