The Military Health System awarded Fort Riley’s public affairs officer Jorge Gomez with the Communicator and Civilian Photographer of the Year honor on Thursday.

The MHS recognizes outstanding military medicine professionals who are “excelling at their craft,” said Dr. Stephen Ferrara, principal deputy assistant secretary of war for health affairs. “They are rising stars, and innovators, but most of all they are patriots; they are warriors.”
