Gary Allan says scoring a nomination for ACM Song of the Year for writing his #1 hit, “Every Storm (Runs Out of Rain),” is “huge.”
“I think that’s everybody’s goal deep down is that they want to be songwriters — at least me,” Gary tells ABC News Radio. “It was a magic cut for us too. I wrote it with friends. I produced that one, too. I produced it with my band, so it had a lot of firsts. That was the first #1 I’d written. “
Gary is headed out to Las Vegas for the ACM Awards this Sunday, and there’s one watering hole in Sin City he always likes to hit up.
Says Gary, “There’s a bar there called The Centennial that was built in, like, the 1800s that’s really cool. It’s just kind of off a little dirt road.”
Gary is also a huge fan of the Cirque du Soleil shows.
“That’s my favorite thing to do,” he says. “I’ll try to catch one at 7 and one at 10 every time I’ve got the option.”
The 49th Annual ACM Awards air Sunday, April 6 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
