Usually when we hear about lost wedding rings being returned to their owners, it’s a sappy story full of tears of joy.

But, to quote Old Dominion, “this isn’t one of those stories that ends up that way, no.”

Steve Andrews of Jersey (the English one), discovered a lost wedding ring in the English Channel with his metal detector and tracked down the owner. I’m assuming he had visions of morning news programme (that’s how they spell it in England. Weird, right?) interviews dancing his head. After all, he’s done this same thing many times. The thing is, she didn’t want it back.

“I have been contacted by a lady who said that she threw the ring away after a bad divorce,” Steve wrote on a post to the Jersey Lost Ring Metal Detecting Facebook group. “I’ll pop it back when I’m down there next.”
