Riley County commissioners were updated on the latest dollars and cents in the county balance sheet Thursday morning.

County treasurer Shilo Heger reported a general fund of $9.9 million and that the county’s total assets add up to over $37.1 million.

Heger said the general fund has about $200,000 more in it than at this time in 2015.

“We are right on line where we were last year,” she said.

Heger also reported year to date sales tax dollars are down 1.24 percent compared to this time last year and that April-alone sales tax numbers are down 1.12 percent compared to April 2015.
However, April sales tax dollars are up 14 percent compared to March.

Food and accommodations continue to be the dominant sales tax generators for the county, followed by utilities, auto sales and department stores.
