The holidays in Manhattan wouldn’t be complete without the 21st annual Spirit of the Holidays Lighted Parade!
Every entry in the parade will have lights of some sort on their float/vehicle/dog. It’s quite the spectacle that will happen tonight starting at 5:30 p.m.
The parade route is a little different this year, as the construction in Aggieville pretty much prevents the parade from going down Moro. Instead, it will start at 3rd Street on Poyntz and head down to 11th, before moving up to Fremont and into City Park. The annual lighting of the Mayor’s Holiday Tree will commence immediately after the end of the parade in City Park.
Staging begins at 3 p.m. this afternoon in the parking lot at Manhattan Town Center west of Dillards. To accommodate the line-up, street closings will happen at 2 p.m. at 3rd and Leavenworth, 3rd and Humboldt and 4th and Humboldt. No parking will be allowed on Humboldt between 3rd and 4th streets or in the west Dillards parking lot. Both areas will be tow zones.
Volunteers from the Flint Hills Breadbasket will be walking along the route collecting donations of non-perishable food for the Breadbasket.
