Warner Music NashvilleHunter Hayes admits both the happy and sad love songs on his upcoming album, Storyline, are mostly inspired by his personal experiences. He’s just not ready to reveal exactly who inspired those songs just yet.

When asked why he keeps his personal life under wraps, Hunter explains, “I’ve bared my soul on this record. That’s my choice for my life. Anyone that is connected to me doesn’t necessarily make those choices, so I guess I just — I respect them.”

It doesn’t look like Hunter will reveal the name of anyone he’s dating until things turn pretty serious in the relationship.

He adds, “They don’t ask to be written about and they don’t ask to be talked about in interviews. So, I just kind of prefer to respect that, until otherwise noted — until otherwise it feels like that’s right.”

For now, it seems the main love in Hunter’s life remains his music.

“Seriously, it does come down to me just being pretty boring,” Hunter says. “I mean, the only thing for me to really talk about is music, and that’s fine with me.”

Hunter’s new album, Storyline, is due out May 6 featuring his latest single, “Invisible.”
