Valory Music CompanyWorlds will collide Friday night, as Brantley Gilbert teams up with the Nashville Symphony for a special show at Music City’s Ascend Amphitheater.

“The Ones That Like Me” hitmaker says the concept started out fairly small, and grew from there.

“The original idea was to do three or four [songs with the orchestra] in the acoustic segment of the show,” Brantley explains, “and it kinda evolved into this bigger production, with a lot more involvement through the show’s entirety. And we’re ‘run and gun’ right now.”

Brantley admits part of the pressure comes from adding songs he doesn’t normally do, like one from 2010’s Halfway to Heaven album.

“We’re bringing in some songs, one in particular that we haven’t played, I think, in six years,” he says, “‘Saving Amy,’ which had some aspects of a symphony on the original production on the album.”

“But we’ve never done it live before,” Brantley goes on. “So this’ll be the first time we’ve played that song live in six years, and the first time ever we’ve played it with that particular arrangement.”

Since the man behind “Dirt Road Anthem” will take the stage alongside his classical counterparts, will he be dressing the part?

“Yeah, I’m gonna wear a tux!” he jokes. “Y’all know I’m lying! I’m the reigning worst-dressed champ at the country music awards shows.”

“I’ll wear something, maybe, hopefully a little nicer than I usually wear. But then I might be uncomfortable. I’ll probably be in a cut-off and these jeans actually.”

You can get a preview of Brantley’s Friday night show now, thanks to a clip from rehearsals he shared on his socials.
