A Louisiana man’s Saturday morning took a turn for the worse in Wabaunsee county over the weekend. 30-year-old Brandon Perque of Marrero, Louisiana, was eastbound on Interstate 70 at mile marker 327 when he lost control of his car while passing a semi-truck. Perque’s 2015 Subaru spun out in the eastbound lane then was struck head-on by the semi. Perque was transported to Stormont Vail in Topeka. According to Kansas Highway Patrol, Perque was wearing his seat belt. The driver of the semi is listed as Clint Clark, 35, of Ferriday, Louisiana. Clark was uninjured.
Saturday morning’s accident in Wabaunsee county was just the end of a long evening of accidents on Friday night and Saturday morning.
Geary county sheriff’s deputies were kept busy late into the night on Friday. Shortly after 10:30 p.m., deputies responded to I-70 mile marker 314. Once on scene they found a jack-knifed tractor trailer. Moreno Josean, of Florida, was driving a 2016 Volvo tractor trailer eastbound and lost control on the ice-covered interstate.
After midnight, deputies responded to a three-vehicle accident at mile marker 313. Two vehicles left the scene before officers arrived. Connie Seigman-Jones, of Indianapolis, Indiana, was still on scene in her 2011 Honda Pilot. Seigman was uninjured.
Finally, shortly before 1 o’clock, deputies responded to another non-injury accident on the eastbound exit ramp at 313. Jared Schroeder was driving a 2010 Dodge Pickup. Schroeder lost control of his pick up and slid into Angela Brouhard, of Topeka, Kansas. Both drivers were uninjured, but Brouhard’s Toyota Prius sustained heavy damage.
