ABC/Image Group LAAs Maren Morris’s third single from her debut album, Hero, nears the top five, the Texas native reveals she’s already hard at work crafting her sophomore effort.

“I am just telling people because it’s true, I am in the midst of rounding out the songs,” she says. “So I am just writing like crazy, taking some time off in the winter to write.”

Maren already has quite a start on the follow-up to her Grammy- and CMA-nominated debut.

“I think we probably have like four songs left that I think we need for the album,” she tells ABC Radio, “so I’m just gonna be writing my butt off the next couple of months and record it at some point next year.”

“I Could Use a Love Song” currently ranks sixth on the country chart, making it Maren’s biggest hit so far, save for her #1 collaboration with Thomas Rhett on “Craving You.”
