Jamie NelsonTwo years ago, Maren Morris won the Best Country Solo Performance Grammy, but on Sunday, the “GIRL” hitmaker could add five more trophies to her collection.

She not only has three country nods, but she’s also up for Best Pop/Duo Group Performance and Record of the Year for “The Middle” with Zedd and Grey. The song itself is competing for Song of the Year, too.

“Being nominated in the general categories for the first time — well, except for Best New Artist a few years ago — but for Song and Record of the Year is so cool,” Maren reflects. “So I’m definitely looking forward to being at the Grammys again.”

As for the country categories, Maren’s up for Best Country Solo Performance for her cover of Elton John‘s “Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters” from the Restoration tribute album. Maren says she finds it hard to believe that her career has become so diverse.

“I don’t even think I could’ve hoped for that,” she admits. “That just didn’t seem like a possibility, ever.”

“To have a song like ‘The Middle’ to be a part of was a new thing for me,” she explains. “I’ve never been a part of any sort of pop world collaboration. But I’ve listened to every genre growing up.”

Still, Maren remains a country fan at heart — one that’s pulling for her pals.

“I…just love being nominated with all my friends,” she reveals. “And I’m rooting for Brothers Osborne and Kacey [Musgraves] and Kelsea [Ballerini]. It’s just such a great year for women and for country music.”

Maren will also perform on Sunday’s telecast, as part of a tribute to the MusiCares Person of the Year, Dolly Parton. You can tune in for the Grammys starting at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
