K-State President Richard Linton announced Friday that the vice president for academic success and student affairs and dean of students will soon take on a new title as chief of staff.

Thomas Lane has been serving as interim chief of staff since July and will fully transition to his new role Nov. 8.

K-State officials said Lane brings experience working closely with campus and community partners and with leadership. The chief of staff serves as a connector between the president and the broader university and external communities by strengthening relationships with faculty, staff, students, governing boards, community partners and public officials.
