K-State students and faculty won’t be able to go on university-sponsored or faculty-led trips to certain countries affected by COVID-19, or novel coronavirus, for the foreseeable future.
The university has place a travel ban, with guidance from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. State Department, on these types of trips to countries that meet criteria for a CDC warning level 3 or a U.S. State Department Travel Advisory level 4.
K-State Division of Communications and Marketing Vice President Jeff Morris says the ban will also affect some students currently overseas.
Although the ban won’t affect personal travel, Morris says people traveling for spring break should still be aware of the risks involved.
According to Morris, there is a plan in place for how to treat students returning from trips who show symptoms of COVID-19.
Information on travel advisories and warnings can be found on the U.S. Department of State’s website.
Travelers can also register on this same website to receive up-to-date information.
Those seeking exemptions can fill out the Travel Exemption Request Form on the K-State website and send it to IRAWG@k-state.edu.
