Blue Chair Bay/Columbia NashvilleKenny Chesney’s surprise new duet with Pink will be his next single. The opportunity to record “Setting the World on Fire” with the acrobatic pop star is one of the reasons the eight-time Entertainer of the Year decided to push back the release of his next album and change the title to Cosmic Hallelujah.

“I wanted a song that packs all that joy, all that fun, all the energy that love is made of,” he says of the collaboration. “You can’t conjure a song that captures that feeling of being on the brink like this does. The lyrics are a perfect way of saying it, but when you feel that melody rise, the arrangement picking up momentum — it’s bigger than you are, and all you want to do is throw yourself against the night. Then when Pink comes in — well that just brings this [song] to life.”

The world will get its first chance to hear “Setting the World on Fire” when it’s released to radio Thursday at 5 p.m. ET. Cosmic Hallelujah, which features its top-10 first single “Noise,” is set for release October 28.
