Manhattan Area Technical College announced that it had won the National Bio and Agro Defense Facility’s Think and Do Challenge.

The $53,106 award will be used to develop a Bio-safety training program that will be offered to area first responders, biotechnology program students and those working in NBAF’s laboratory environment.

A component of MATC’s new training program will be the development of a key assessment piece to test workers on their ability
to stay safe in Bio-safety Security Level 2-4 laboratories that must comply with stringent federal requirements.

MATC hopes the training program can be used beyond NBAF-related laboratories and facilities.

The project will be rolled out in the coming weeks.
