Earlier this year, a pair of candidates running for office in Manhattan and Ogden were arrested in separate cases of driving under the influence. Less than a week out from the general election, those cases remain unresolved in Riley County District Court, with future court dates pending.
Aaron Estabrook, one of eight candidates for the Manhattan City Commission, was arrested April 15 on a charge of DUI after reportedly hitting a parked car. According to the Riley County Attorney’s Office, a status conference is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. November 12. At the League of Women’s candidate forum on Oct. 6, Estabrook announced he had been sober since his April arrest. The case was originally sent to the municipal court but was referred to Riley County District Court earlier this year.
Paul Foltz, one of 10 candidates running for Ogden City Council, was arrested twice over the summer for driving under the influence. Both cases are now set for separate trials beginning January 2 and February 7.
