A Manhattan man is being charged in connection with an attempted murder case in Wichita reported Monday. Dane Thomas Owens, 27, was taken into custody after the Monday shooting which left a 22-year-old woman in critical condition.

Steve Logback, Associate Vice President in Communications and Marketing at K-State, indicates Owens is a sophomore in social work.

KSNW indicates the woman was found in northeast Wichita around 4 p.m. Monday and was transported to the hospital in critical condition. She reportedly had broken up with her boyfriend identified as Owens a few weeks ago.

Owens was reportedly found at a home in Andover and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail for one count of attempted first degree murder and aggravated burglary.
