A Riley County man was sentenced to prison on Monday for attempted involuntary manslaughter.

46-year-old Jarman Morgan was sentenced to 136 months in prison in Riley County District Court by Judge John Bosch on one count of attempted involuntary manslaughter.

Morgan was also sentenced to 31 months for aggravated battery and 13 months for violating the Kansas Offenders Registration Act. Morgan had plead guilty to the three counts back in November 2023.

Morgan has a lengthy criminal history and had already spent over 640 days in Riley County Jail awaiting a sentencing.

Judge Bosch remarked in court on Monday that was the longest he had ever heard of someone being in prison. Bosch credited the time spent in jail already by Morgan towards the completion of his sentence.
