Manhattan-Ogden USD 383 has reached their final decision with naming Erin Lopez as the new principal of Oliver Brown Elementary.

Lopez currently serves as MTSS Coordinator at Bluemont and Woodrow Wilson Elementary schools and has served in that position since 2019. Previously, she served as an Instructional Coach at Seitz Elementary School in Fort Riley, KS and began her career as a 5th grade teacher in 2012 at Seitz Elementary School.

Lopez has a B.S. in Elementary Education earned in 2012 and obtained a M.S. in Educational Leadership in 2017 from Kansas State University.

Lopez is also a Professional Educational Leadership Academy Graduate and has received an endorsement from Fort Hays State University in Building Leadership and Administration earned in 2018.

Lopez is quoted saying “I am honored to serve my community as the first principal of Oliver Brown Elementary… I will work tirelessly to create an inclusive, equitable, and academically rigorous school that honors the Brown legacy through the actions of its students and staff.”

Superintendent Marvin Wade says USD 383 is fortunate to have Lopez as the first principal of Oliver Brown and recognize her as a respected educational leader who has already demonstrated consistent dedication to the students, staff, and families of USD 383.

“We have a new school that’s going to open in 2021-2022, and there is a principal hired as of tonight to be the the first principal of Oliver Brown; And that’s Aaron Lopez,” Wade said. “She’s been on our district, a couple of years, and the committee was impressed with her vision, with her knowledge, with her enthusiasm and work ethic, just a lot of strong, strong skills that she brings to the position. We’re excited to have her moving in that position.”
