Kansas state Senator Kenny Titus (R-Manhattan) has filed a bill that would exempt the state of Kansas from Daylight Savings Time.
The issue of Daylight Savings has been a topic of discussion at the federal level, as several bills have been filed to exempt the United States from Daylight Savings while others have looked to make it permanent. In the mid-1970s, the US tried to make DST permanent, but it was overturned after two years due to public backlash.
If Titus’ bill passed, the bill would exempt the state from changing its clocks on the first Sunday of November and the state would not recognize the time change.
“People are tired of changing their clocks twice a year. It’s an outdated system that just doesn’t really make sense,” said Titus.
