ABC/Image Group LA Martina McBride’s holiday album, White Christmas, originally came out in 1998, and has been re-released twice, becoming a yuletide staple along the way.

By next December, the four-time CMA Female Vocalist of the Year expects to add to her seasonal catalog in a major way.

“We have started a new Christmas album,” she tells ABC Radio. “We are planning on putting it out… in the fall of 2018. And so far, I’m just crazy about it.”

Martina says the new record will continue the traditional vibe of her previous holiday effort, with a new twist.

“You know, the Christmas album that I have out now, White Christmas, it’s been out almost 20 years. And it’s very classic-sounding,” she explains. “I wanted to make a record that sounded like the classic Christmas albums that I heard growing up. So this one is classic as well, in a bit of a different way.”

“It’s a bit more swing and big-band themed,” she says of next year’s album. “But I do believe it’s the kind of record that you’ll be able to put on and listen to for the next 20 years.”

Martina’s The Joy of Christmas tour wraps tonight in Roanoke, Virginia at the Berglund Performing Arts Theatre.
