Calling him “the college quarterback who’s now scoring with country fans,” Men’s Fitness names Sam Hunt one of its Game Changers of 2015 in its current issue.
Looking back on his time as a philosophy major and quarterback at the University of Alabama Birmingham, Sam reflects on how learning to play music transformed him personally. “I had never explored the arts at all, and coming from a football background where everything was very intense, I had more of a wound-up, aggressive nature,” he admits. “Picking up a guitar brought a lot of balance into my life.”
Even though he’s no longer on the field, Sam tells the magazine he’s careful to still keep it physical, doing cardio and weights two to three times a week, even when he’s on the road.
Sam joins celebs like Oliver Hudson, Michael B. Jordan, Matt Bomer, Calvin Harris and Vin Diesel on the list. The October issue of Men’s Fitness is available now.
