The Manhattan Fire Department was busy late Tuesday morning extinguishing a house fire at 122 Kopp Drive. Crews were dispatched to the one-story home shortly at 11:04 a.m., where they found smoke and flames venting from a rear window. Eighteen firefighters entered the home and contained the fire in fifteen minutes.  A juvenile occupant of the structure was home at the time of the fire and was able to exit without injury before arrival of fire crews. The residence received an estimated loss of $75,000 to the structure and $25,000 to the structure. ELG Enterprises LLC of Little River, Kansas, owns the property.

MFD has not determined the cause of the fire, though it is assumed to be electrical malfunction.
