The mystery illness plaguing Manhattan High School is now being reported throughout other district schools. As of Friday, more than 100 students and faculty members reported symptoms including vomiting, diarrhea and nausea. Reports of illness have now been reported at the middle schools and elementary schools according to Superintendent Marvin Wade. Wade says the district is cleaning all the buildings and buses with a bleach solution. Although not confirmed, many sources have indicated the illness might be norovirus.
Kansas Department of Agriculture inspectors visited MHS last week and found nothing to make them believe the illness originated in the building.

The mystery illness that sent several Manhattan High School students home last week with vomiting and nausea symptoms continues to grow.

Reports indicate there have been more than 100 students and faculty who have fallen ill to these symptoms. The MHS cafeteria was inspected by the Kansas Department of Agriculture Wednesday. The inspector did not find anything that would suggest an illness is caused by the cafeteria, and it appears the virus was introduced to the school from the outside.

School officials began special cleaning procedures in the building Wednesday night.

The Riley County Health Department has reported it has received stool samples from some infected students and expects results from tests on those samples by next week.
