Miranda Lambert was hailed as a stellar songwriter when she released her debut album, Kerosene, nearly a decade ago, but she’s done a lot of living in the years since that album. That life experience has only strengthened her songwriting skills and led to her winning CMA Song of the Year for penning “Over You” with husband Blake Shelton.
Miranda says, “I think I know myself way better than I did 10 years ago, but I think in 10 years I’ll say, ‘Gosh, I know myself way better than I did 10 years ago.’ You just learn so much about who you are, and life experience does that for you.”
Jumping into new situations, like tying the knot with Blake or trying her hand at acting, have also taught Miranda to let go of her fear of failure.
“It’s like, well, you learn from your mistakes, for sure, and then you write about them,” she says with a laugh.
Miranda’s life is on full display on her latest album, Platinum, in stores now.
